Mechanical Behavior of Crimping Composite Post Insulator: Experimental and Simulation Study

The composite post insulator composed of a large diameter mandrel and flange pressed by one-time integral pultrusion has high strength good toughness is widely used in the existing flexible converter valve. For constructing finite element model crimped insulator, most surface are directly connected, making simulation model’s stiffness deviate from actual distortion. Based on this, this study proposes new simplified based multi-point constraints (MPC), which accurately simulates crimping area engineering practice. It verifies reliability through static tests characteristic vibration tests. results show that difference between test within 5%. modeling method MPC local very reliable applying insulators. proposed model, influence height thickness mechanical properties insulators further explored. can be ignored when stiffener (non-press common area) constant. Within allowable range process, increase will significantly reduce maximum bending stress its safety margin. provides design idea for
